Soil Water Behavior of Sandy Soils under Semiarid Conditions in the Shendong Mining Area (China)

The soil water behavior of sandy soils was studied under semiarid conditions in the Shendong mining area (China). content (θ) measured different depths and topographies using an HH2 moisture meter. infiltration process a Guelph permeameter. A set hydrodynamic variables calculated laboratory. θ first 20 cm lowest increased with depth. from top slope to bottom slope. experiments showed that steady state rate >40 mm h−1 most cases. Owing higher contents sand macropores at 0–20 surface soil, initial were higher. average available capacity 18.28%, which consistent predominance textural fraction. results retention curve rainfall simulation experiment there low throughout whole profile. This study contributes understanding several aspects provides key information for environmental management land reclamation area.
